Year-end bookkeeping made fast

Hand your CPA an organized file, not a box of PDFs

Tax preparers don't have the time to retype 50 pages of bank statements, and paying them hourly for data entry gets expensive. A reconciled spreadsheet saves hours and ensures you don't miss deductions.

Convert all 12 months in one go

Drop in a full year of bank or credit card statements at once. Download them as one continuous spreadsheet with Month and Source columns ready for your tax preparer.

Uncover missed tax deductions

Easily filter and search 12 months of transactions for recurring software subscriptions, utility splits, professional dues, and travel expenses hiding in personal or mixed accounts.

Reconcile to the penny

Ensure that Jan 1 starting balance + deposits − withdrawals equals Dec 31 closing balance. Prove to your CPA or the IRS that every dollar is accounted for.

Tax records stay on your machine

Conversion runs locally in your browser via WebAssembly. Your full account numbers, employer IDs, and transactions are never sent to a cloud server or stored remotely.

Eliminate duplicate credit card payments

Isolate checking account payments from actual credit card expenses to avoid double-counting business expenses on your Schedule C or P&L.

Works where bank feeds fail

QuickBooks and Xero bank feeds usually only reach back 60 to 90 days. For older tax years or closed accounts, PDF statements are the only reliable way to catch up.

The 5-step year-end tax prep checklist

Follow this checklist to prepare an audit-ready tax package from your statements:

1. Inventory every account

Operating checking, savings, business cards, lines of credit, and payment processors (Stripe, PayPal, Square).

2. Download all 12 monthly PDFs

Pull official statement PDFs (Jan through Dec) rather than rolling online activity exports.

3. Verify continuity across cycles

Confirm that Month 1’s ending balance rolls over into Month 2’s opening balance with zero gaps.

4. Convert & categorize transactions

Group expenses by standard IRS Schedule C categories: advertising, software, supplies, travel, contractor fees.

5. Flag one-off capital purchases

Highlight large equipment, vehicle, or computer purchases that may need depreciation rather than immediate expense.

Accuracy you can audit

A converter that shows its work

It tells you when it is wrong

Every conversion is reconciled: opening balance plus every extracted transaction must equal the closing balance on the statement. If it does not, we say so, and by how much — instead of handing you a tidy spreadsheet with a missing row.

Confidence, row by row

Each transaction carries an extraction confidence score. Anything under 90% is flagged in the table so your review takes thirty seconds instead of a full re-read of the PDF.

Fix it here, not in Excel

Every cell is editable and any row can be deleted, right in the results table. Your download is generated from the rows you see, so corrections never have to happen twice.

Questions

Before you convert

Is my statement uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs inside this browser tab — the parser is compiled to WebAssembly and loaded into the page. Your statement is never sent to a server, and closing the tab is the end of it.

What format does my CPA or tax preparer want?

Most tax preparers and accountants prefer clean Excel (.xlsx) or CSV files with separate columns for Date, Description, and signed Amount, or separate Debit/Credit columns. statement2sheets supports both formats.

Can I convert multiple bank accounts or credit cards?

Yes. You can drop in statements from multiple checking accounts and credit cards. When downloading the combined spreadsheet, statement2sheets includes Source File and Account columns so every row traces back to its source.

What if I haven’t touched my bookkeeping all year?

statement2sheets was specifically built for year-end catch-up work. Instead of paying an accountant $100 to $150 per hour for manual data entry, convert all 12 statements in minutes and hand your CPA an organized file.

Will a scanned or photographed statement work?

Not yet. The parser reads the text inside a PDF, and a scan is only a picture of text. Statements downloaded from online banking almost always have that text layer and convert normally.

Does it work for credit cards as well as checking accounts?

Yes. statement2sheets recognizes credit card statements from major issuers and correctly formats purchases as expenses and payments as credits so your tax totals are accurate.
